An Interview with Ruth Spirer

Dallas Premiere Jewish Wedding Planner

WHAT IS THE BEST ADVICE YOU’VE RECEIVED IN YOUR CAREER?

Persevere, stick to your goals, work hard on your reputation, and NEVER stop learning.

WHAT IS THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE WHEN YOU ARE A GUEST AT A WEDDING?

Aesthetics and flow of events.

MOST VALUABLE YET FORGOTTEN ITEM IN AN EMERGENCY KIT:

 A small mirror

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO GET INTO THE WEDDING INDUSTRY?

My background is hospitality and I worked as a Catering Sales Manager at a local Dallas hotel. I fell in love with weddings and made a decision to follow my passion to become a wedding planner. I love the LOVE that couples share and I love to create these lifetime special day memories for my clients. I am a romantic person and anything about relationship fascinates me.

WHAT TYPE OF COUPLE IS THE BEST FIT FOR YOUR PLANNING STYLE?

Couples that understand they need a professional to handle wedding tasks for them and appreciate the value in what I provide. Couples that live out of town/state and want a professional to assist them in bringing all the pieces together. Couples that lead a very busy life, either studying or having demanding careers that do not allow them to take the time it takes to plan a wedding.

WHAT PART OF PLANNING DO YOU LOVE THE MOST?

Putting together the final touches on everything. Getting to know all the family dynamics and specific situations. Working on all the myriad details, planning the timeline, and helping create the overall flow of the wedding.

WHAT IS THE NUMBER ONE REASON ALL COUPLES SHOULD HIRE A PLANNER?

Having an advocate on their side to facilitate and be a liaison between them, the venue and multiple vendors hired. HAVING PEACE OF MIND ON THEIR BIG DAY!

WHAT TIP WOULD YOU OFFER A NEWLY ENGAGED COUPLE?

After the excitement of the engagement, BEFORE starting to look for a venue or anything else, take some time to sit down together as a couple and discuss your vision and priorities for your special day. When you hire a planner at that stage, they will help you prioritize and work within a budget.

WHAT IS A FAVORITE MOMENT FROM ANY WEDDING YOU HAVE PLANNED?

My favorite moment at any wedding that I plan is the “First Look” of the bride and groom OR the moment before the bride walks down the aisle.

I look forward to making my clients wedding everything they have imagined, and more!
